As more and more businesses adopt sustainability and start operating on a global scale, more and more businesses are paying attention to CSR related issues. Many international companies have started focusing more on the role that CSR practices should play in economic activities and considering CSR part of the key business strategies for a company.  Furthermore, the practice of preparing CSR reports to disclose a company's performance in environmental, social and economic development, governance, and other nonfinancial aspects is gaining popularity. More and more countries and market regulators are making such disclosure mandatory.

According to the amendment of the Rules Governing the Preparation and Filing of Corporate Social Responsibility Reports by TWSE Listed Companies released on October 19, 2015, companies whose capital stock is NTD5 billion or more but less than NTD10 billion shall start preparing CSR reports in 2017 when they will submit their 2016 CSR reports. Exception may apply to companies with accumulated losses in the annual final accounts, who may start preparing CSR reports in 2019.  For the purpose of helping companies understand the actual process of and key points in preparing CSR report and improve the quality of these reports, TWSE and TPEx have teamed up and commissioned the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TAISE) to organize the 2016 Corporate Social Responsibility Report Seminar above. Priority registration is available to TWSE/TPEx listed companies that will be preparing their first CSR reports in 2017.

The seminar consists of five classroom courses and one panel forum. In addition to CSR experts and scholars, the list of speakers will also include representatives from TWSE listed companies that have published CSR reports, who will share their experiences and practical issues encountered in the process to help participants quickly grasp the concepts.  The seminar is aimed to help managers and employees directly involved in planning and implementing CSR strategies and report preparation and to facilitate understanding and improvement of the quality of disclosure in such reports through case studies. It is expected that participants will be able to incorporate CSR practices into their business strategies and explore their innovation capabilities, thereby driving the business environment in Taiwan to advance in a positive direction.
