Educational Seminars for the Second Round of “Corporate Governance Evaluation” Begins on March 3rd

The Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE) has stated that the educational seminars for the second round of “Corporate Governance Evaluation” will start on March 3rd. To encourage the implementation of good corporate governance and help listed companies understand the important amendments to the second round of Corporate Governance Evaluation, the TWSE and the Taipei Exchange (TPEx, formally the GreTai Securities Market)will be jointly conducting the first educational seminar “An Introduction to the Corporate Governance Evaluation System and the Implementation of Good Corporate Governance” at Taipei Howard Civil Service International House on March 3rd. Successive sessions are scheduled on March 5th, March 6th, March 10th, and March 12th, and will be held in Taichung, Kaohsiung, Taipei, and Hsinchu, respectively.

In addition to explaining the amendments of the second round of Corporate Governance Evaluation, these educational seminars will also introduce the focuses of the new amendments for Corporate Governance Best Practice Principles, Ethical Corporate Management Best Practice Principles and Corporate Social Responsibility Best Practice Principles for TWSE/TPEx Listed Companies. The TWSE and TPEx have also invited representatives from Taiwan Depository & Clearing Corporation (TDCC) and Taiwan Stock Affairs Association to share their experience in electronic voting and shareholders related matters. These will include an introduction to legislation, the impact on shareholders meetings, the guidance for electronic voting and stock affairs, and corporate governance trends as well.

The TWSE plans to direct all listed companies to gain in-depth knowledge on the contents of the corporate governance evaluation through these seminars. In addition, it aims to help companies strengthen corporate governance practices so as to improve Taiwan’s overall level of corporate governance and enhance the image and competiveness of Taiwan’s international capital market.

As of February 24th, over two thousand people have already signed up for the seminars. Such enthusiastic participation demonstrates how these seminars adhere to the practical needs of TWSE/TPEx listed companies.
