Inspired by the rise of responsible investment in recent years, institutional investors have paid more attention to the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance of companies in addition to shareholders' return on investment. The "Corporate Governance Roadmap (2018-2020) " also makes promoting shareholder activism one of the five action plans. The aim is to encourage institutional investors to monitor TWSE/TPEx-listed companies and urge these companies to pay attention to corporate governance. Capital markets quality as a whole can be made higher as a result. The forum also uses actual practices adopted by important foreign institutional investors as references to help improve stewardship in Taiwan.

TWSE has actively promoted interactions between institutional investors and listed companies in recent years and introduced a number of measures catered to investors including amendments for related regulations such as mandatory investor conferences and improvement of information disclosure in English, in the hope of making more listed companies pay attention to investor relations and promoting facilitating improved interactions between listed companies and institutional investors. As institutional investors aim to achieve stewardship goals, they have paid more attention to responsible investment and actively increased opportunities for engaging listed companies. This has made the job of investor relations more diverse and important.

In this Forum, TWSE representatives will explain the "Corporate Governance Roadmap (2018-2020) Important Measures" and a professional institutional investor — a member of the BlackRock Investment Stewardship and Investor Relations Representative of the Teco Electric & Machinery Co., Ltd. will give speeches on "Experience of Implementing Stewardship Activities" and "Interact with Institutional Investors to Promote Corporate Value" from the perspectives of institutional investors and listed companies. In addition, representatives from Bureau of Labor Funds of the Ministry of Labor, investor relations consulting institution Ipreo by IHS Markit, and listed company BizLink Holding Inc. are also invited to panel discussions with speakers. The panelists will exchange diverse viewpoints and concepts based on the topic of "Two-way Communication Create Company's Greatest Value" and attendees will gain a more comprehensive understanding of the best practices in investor relations of public companies and stewardship of institutional investors. When future institutional investors conduct stewardship activities, listed companies and institutional investors can engage in mutually beneficial dialogue and interactions to maximize value for both parties.

TWSE hopes this forum help listed companies improve investor relations and enhance stewardship of institutional investors in Taiwan. The forum is also an opportunity for mutual discussions for learning about each other's needs and establish good communication channels. These measures will help institutional investors fulfill their stewardship opportunities and help public companies enhance strengthen corporate governance and information transparency, create long-term value for companies, and achieve sustainability.
