Over 70% of Company Chairpersons and General Managers Attend First Corporate Governance Evaluation Awards Ceremony

The Taiwan Stock Exchange announces that the First Corporate Governance Evaluation Award Ceremony was held today (6/10) at 5:00 p.m. at the Taipei International Convention Center, commending TWSE-listed and TPEx-listed companies with outstanding performance in corporate governance evaluation. In addition to Tseng Ming-chung, Chairperson of the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC), presenting the awards, executives from peripheral securities units, major funds, the Securities Investment Trust and Consulting Association (SITCA), the Taiwan Securities Association (TSA), corporate governance-related organizations and evaluation committee members were also invited to participate. 

The 70 celebrated TWSE-listed and TPEx-listed companies include those ranked in the top 5% in the first corporate governance evaluation (40 and 30 companies, respectively), as well as the 15 TWSE-listed and TPEx-listed companies ranked in the top 5% for annual average employee salary growth in 2014 (10 and 5 companies, respectively). Over 70% of company chairmen or presidents accepted their award in person. Total attendees to the party are estimated to be near 200 people, signifying corporations’ enthusiastic participation and their agreement on the importance of the first evaluation results.

With this award ceremony, TWSE hopes that by affirming the efforts of outstanding companies as they invest in corporate governance, these companies will serve as the capital market’s models and benchmarks, and are references for institutional investors as investment targets. This will also encourage each evaluated company to emulate distinguished enterprises, helping to improve corporate governance of capital market as well as to fulfill social responsibility to enhance enterprise competitiveness of our country.
