The Propagation and Promotion of Taiwanese Corporate Governance and Related Policies; Improving Global Visibility

Since 1998, authorities have been continuously propagating the importance of corporate governance to listed domestic companies, while also introducing multiple systems to enhance it. TWSE has been actively complying with the revised regulations while implementing various methods for propagation and promotion. With this great opportunity, the TWSE actively promoted some of the most resent breakthroughs in corporate governance policies including the establishment of the Corporate governance center in October 2013, expanding the scope of companies subject to the electronic voting requirement in November 2013, the launch of the “Roadmap of Corporate Governance” in December 2013, requiring more companies to appoint independent directors and to form audit committees, etc. Through all the efforts, TWSE have successfully enhanced Taiwan’s international visibility and identity in corporate governance.

Establishing the Corporate Governance Center to Actively Build Up Global Network and Enhance International Competitiveness

To consolidate corporate governance and other related matters, TWSE announced last year (2013) the establishment of the “Corporate Governance Center”, which serves as an overall planning center for corporate governance and other related matters. With this institution, interaction with related international institutions will be conducted even more actively. Participation in international corporate governance related activities, the sharing of the latest laws and regulations, and the building of a related network are all ongoing activities that will help to develop and to improve image of corporate governance for Taiwan’s capital market.
