Cultivate a happy workplace, the TWSE joins the “Rings the Bell for Gender Equality’ event

Publish time:2023-03-07

The Taiwan Stock Exchange (the TWSE) once again takes part in the "Ring the Bell for Gender Equality" event, hosted by the IFC, WFE, UN SSE, UN Global Compact, and UN Women, during the week of International Women's Day this year.

The TWSE Chairman & CEO Sherman Lin, President Lih-chung Chien and Senior Executive Vice President Rebecca Chen led female management to show their support for gender equality and to demonstrate TWSE’s efforts in promoting gender diversity in the workplace.

To encourage listed companies to focus on gender equality and board diversity, the TWSE has supported the Financial Supervisory Commission’s policy since 2013 by urging improvement of gender structure of listed companies’ board members and adding female director percentage related indicators in the Corporate Governance Evaluation. The TWSE also revised the "Corporate Governance Best Practice Principles for TWSE/TPEx Listed Companies," by suggesting listed companies to have female directors account for one third of the seats on the board of directors in 2021.

The TWSE male to female employees’ ratio is balanced. To build a further safe and quality workplace, the TWSE has offered numerous human rights-related courses internally in recent years and continually conducts training projects focusing on prevention of sexual harassment and improving gender equality. The TWSE also establishes an internal communication and a report mechanism to create a friendly and equal rights workplace for employees to enhance their motivation.

The TWSE notes that continuing participation in the event underscores its respect for gender equality and is pleased to share practices and achievements in promoting gender equality and women's empowerment with the world. The TWSE will continuously collaborate with market participants to forge an equal and sustainable capital market.
