In order to incorporate the concept of carbon governance into education to deepen and implement the corporate sustainable strategy, the first “Strategies for Low Carbon Transformation of Enterprises” course was held in Taipei on August 17 and 18. The Taiwan Stock Exchange, the Taiwan Carbon Solution Exchange, and the Taiwan Corporate Governance Association collaborated with Chung Hsing University and successfully completed the “Net Zero Sustainable Talent Training Class” on September 22 and 23, with the theme of “Carbon Sink, Carbon Rights and Carbon Trading.”

A one-and-a-half day course was specially designed for this training, covering the topics of “Carbon Emissions and Carbon Rights Trading Mechanism,” “Analysis of Corporate Governance 3.0 Sustainability Report Practices,” and “Responsibilities and Roles of the Board of Directors and Strategy Setting in ESG Sustainability Governance,” in order to guide listed companies to quickly grasp domestic and international carbon governance development trends, relevant regulations, and key points for implementation, so as to facilitate the promotion of sustainable development strategies for enterprises. This course attracted 80 listed company representatives and seed teachers, and received wide acclaim from them. The participants expressed that through such training, they not only enhanced their understanding of carbon governance and sustainable development, but could also apply what they learned to their practical work through the combination of practice and theory, making more specific contributions to the sustainable development of enterprises.

In his speech, Chien-Chung Tien, President of the Taiwan Carbon Solution Exchange, stated that the threat of climate change is imminent and requires cooperation from the industry, government, academia, and even the entire population to jointly cope with the climate change crisis. Therefore, in the early stage of the establishment of the Taiwan Carbon Solution Exchange, special emphasis is placed on infrastructure work such as carbon consulting, education and advocacy, in order to integrate, deepen and implement the concept of sustainable governance into corporate governance and operations. Che-Sheng Wu, Secretary General of the Taiwan Corporate Governance Association promised that the association will continuously promote sustainable business operations, strengthen carbon reduction and risk management. This includes accelerating and enhancing the promotion plus implementation of net zero sustainability in Taiwan.

The relevant briefing files for this series of courses can be found under the “Advocacy Activities” section of the Corporate Governance Center website. In order to promote cooperation between civil organizations and the academia, further cultivate professional sustainability talents, and assist enterprises in achieving the goal of net zero sustainability, the Taiwan Carbon Solution Exchange, the Taiwan Stock Exchange, and the Taiwan Corporate Governance Association will collaborate with National Cheng Kung University to hold the “Net Zero Sustainability Talent Training Class” in Tainan in October. Interested central and southern enterprises may register on the websites of the Taiwan Carbon Solution Exchange, the Taiwan Stock Exchange, and the Taiwan Corporate Governance Association.
