2024 Corporate Governance Evaluation Educational Sessions Available on TWSE WebPro Website from March 1 to March 15

Publish time:2024-02-22

The Taiwan Stock Exchange will conduct the online educational sessions of the 2024 Corporate Governance Evaluation from March 1 to March 15, 2024. The sessions include an introduction to the Corporate Governance Evaluation, the amendments of corporate governance regulations, an introduction to ESG information disclosure, and an introduction to voting policies and issues of concern from institutional investors, with the goal of supporting listed companies to implement corporate governance and enhance enterprises’ sustainable development.

The amendments to the 11th Round Corporate Governance Evaluation are in compliance with the “Sustainable Development Action Plans for TWSE- and TPEx-Listed Companies (2023)” and the “Capital Market Roadmap,” which also refer to domestic and international corporate governance policies, sustainable development trends, regulations, and feedback from various fields. In total, four new indicators are added, nine deleted and seven amended in order to continuously urge enterprises to act in accordance with various corporate governance mechanisms as well as sustainable development. The educational sessions will explain the main revisions of the evaluation indicators, and scoring guidelines through examples. The sessions also provide specific topics regarding the recent modifications to the regulations of corporate governance, and the ESG disclosure measures. Our purpose is to assist listed companies to understand the contents and prepare in advance. This time, we have invited Chief Executive Officer Jiun Wei Lu of the Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA) to advocate for diversified support models for listed companies to invest in the cultural content industry. This includes promoting measures such as evaluation scores and tax incentives. Herman Choi, head of APAC Advisory at ISS Corporate, was also invited to share voting policies and matters that are of concern to institutional investors.

Since the implementation of the Corporate Governance Evaluation in 2014, the evaluation indicators, scoring methods and evaluation results have been increasingly valued by listed companies. More and more enterprises are following the indicators and have adopted various effective corporate governance measures, leading the overall market to emphasize the culture of corporate governance and sustainable development. Holding educational sessions online through the TWSE WebPro Website offers more flexibility for listed companies. There will be questionnaires to gather participants’ feedback.

All listed companies are invited to watch the videos on https://webpro.twse.com.tw/webportal/vod/115/?categoryId=150 or by visiting the TWSE WebPro website and choosing “Corporate Governance.” For the course handouts, please visit the website of the Corporate Governance Center (https://cgc.twse.com.tw/evaluationCorp/listCh) to download from February 23 onward.
