Stewardship Code was originally published by the UK Financial Reporting Council in 2010. Japan and Malaysia also came out with their own Codes in 2014. Unlike other corporate governance principles which are usually company-oriented, it is voluntarily signed up by institutional investors (e.g. pension fund, insurance or trust). It aims to enhance the quality of engagement between asset managers and companies to help improve long-term risk-adjusted returns to shareholders.
 
Taiwan Corporate Governance Association (TCGA) and Corporate Governance Center of Taiwan Stock Exchange hold the Roundtable; invite institutional investors to discuss the necessity of initiating Taiwan’s Stewardship Code and further improve corporate governance through active investor engagement.
