TWSE Promotes ESG Disclosure and Expands the Sustainable Development Section of the Corporate Governance Center

To promote corporate sustainability and in keeping with global practices, the Taiwan Stock Exchange launched an ESG (environmental, social, and governance) information reporting and disclosure function on May 31 for its Market Observation Post System (“MOPS”), a public companies’ information platform.

 

The move mandates listed companies to declare or state corporate status in their ESG development within six months after the end of a fiscal year, initially covering 29 indicators on seven major issues of greenhouse-gas (GHG) emission, energy management, water management, waste management, manpower development, the board of directors, and investor communications, all of are in accord with international sustainability-related criteria.

 

For disclosure of ESG information, refer to https://cgc.twse.com.tw/disclosure/listCh and investors can access the information on MOPS after listed companies disclose their latest ESG information by the end of June every year.

 

To encourage corporate carbon abatement, in line with the global Net Zero carbon emission target by 2050, the Financial Supervisory Commission (the “FSC”) put in motion the sustainability development roadmap for TWSE-/TPEx-listed companies on March 3, 2022, aiming to assist listed companies in disclosure of GHG inventory information in four stages, set according to capital scale and industrial category, during 2023-2027. Moreover, for investor convenience, the TWSE Corporate Governance Center has expanded a "corporate sustainability" section on its website in addition to ESG information and sustainability development roadmap, containing an aggregation of ESG-related regulations, sustainability reports link, and information on ESG indices and products. The TWSE stays apprised of and informed on the latest ESG news both in Taiwan and abroad.
