TWSE Conducts ESG Talent Cultivation Integrating Resources from All Fields to Enhance Competitiveness of Taiwan's Enterprises

The Taiwan Stock Exchange (the “TWSE”) and the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (the “TAISE”) jointly hosted the "Capital Market ESG Ecosystem - ESG Talent Cultivation Launching Ceremony" today. The ceremony was opened by event sponsors Chairman Sherman Lin of the TWSE and Dr. Eugene Chien, Chairman and President of the TAISE, Dr. Huan-Chao Keh, President of Tamkang University, Dr. Jo-Shu Chang, Vice President of Tunghai University, and Dr. Shun-Jen Cheng, Vice President of Cheng Shiu University. These universities were invited to deliver a speech and jointly hold the launching ceremony of the talent training course. The ESG talent training course officially started to cultivate talents to support enterprises to achieve the sustainable development goal of greenhouse gas management, comply with international trends, and move towards a net zero future.

 

Chairman Sherman Lin of the TWSE said in his speech, "In response to the Sustainable Development Roadmap policy officially launched by the Financial Supervisory Commission, the TWSE, by integrating resources from all fields in the form of public welfare sponsorship, cooperated with the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy to integrate the academic energies of Tamkang University, Tunghai University and Cheng Shiu University to conduct a series of courses on "Capital Market ESG Ecosystem - ESG Talent Cultivation," and support non-governmental organizations and schools to invest in sustainable development, in order to actively cultivate talents plus encourage research and development, in the expectation that ESG becomes a niche for Taiwan's enterprises in international competition."

 

Dr. Eugene Chien, Chairman and president of TAISE said: "In response to the international trend and pressure of net zero emission of greenhouse gases, the content of this ESG talent training course covers the four major curriculum modules of ‘domestic and international climate governance trends and policies and regulations,’ ‘relevant standards and specifications for greenhouse gas mitigation strategies,’ ‘adjustment to climate change and disclosure of financial information,’ and ‘net zero sustainable initiative and green finance regulations’ to train professionals to assist enterprises in strengthening their planning and implementation capabilities for emission roadmaps, strategic plans and action projects, and achieve the goals of greenhouse gas inventory by 2027 and verification of greenhouse gas inventory by 2029. "

 

Three reputable schools, Tamkang University, Tunghai University and Cheng Shiu University which won the TSAA Taiwan Sustainable Action Award in 2022, were invited to co-organize this course. In addition to offering free training to representatives from listed companies, schools are welcomed to join the training. The Institute and the organizing universities will jointly issue signed training completion certificates, with the objective that sustainable development becomes foundational at an early stage and together the net zero emissions target takes root.
