In order to implement the “Sustainable Development Action Plans for TWSE- and TPEx-listed Companies (2023).,” promote listed companies to establish carbon reduction targets, strategies, and specific action plan, lead companies to achieve net zero, and encourage listed companies to disclose Scope 3 GHG emissions, the TWSE this year cooperates with the CDP and the BCSD Taiwan, the CDP’s partner in Taiwan, to jointly organized a series of advocacy activities on “Empowering the Carbon Era with Sustainable Knowledge” to enhance enterprises’ attention to carbon management through the promotion of participation in the Climate Disclosure Project, so as to evaluate the risks and opportunities enterprises will face in the future and formulate countermeasures.

The CDP is the world’s largest non-profit organization for carbon disclosure, and its environmental information disclosure has received high attention from investors and businesses in recent years. Currently, more than 740 investment institutions with assets under management exceeding USD130 trillion require company disclosure through the CDP, and more than 340 companies with a total procurement amount exceeding USD6.4 trillion require supply chain manufacturers to disclose through the CDP. Company participation in the CDP activities through this advocacy meeting can strengthen Taiwan’s corporate compliance with international standards, activate supply chain carbon disclosure, and attract overseas funds to invest in excellent Taiwanese enterprises.

This advocacy meeting held its first “CDP Taiwan Forum” on March 22. In addition to commending the A-level enterprises that have been awarded by the CDP on climate change and water security field, the CDP Chief Impact Officer Nicolette Bartlett was invited to give a presentation on international standards and trends, and corporate representatives shared their disclosure frameworks, data usage and natural disclosure (TNFD) to assist listed companies in mastering sustainable and forward-looking information. A series of advocacy courses will be launched for listed companies from April to December of this year (2024), aiming to comprehensively enhance the cultivation of sustainable talents and help enterprises move towards net zero transformation.
