The Taiwan Stock Exchange, the Taiwan Carbon Solution Exchange and National Cheng Kung University Jointly Held the “Key Thinking and Key Technologies in the Net-Zero Era” Forum, With enthusiastic participation.
The Taiwan Stock Exchange (the TWSE), the Taiwan Carbon Solution Exchange (the TCX) and National Cheng Kung University jointly held the “Key Thinking and Key Technologies in the Net-Zero Era” forum on September 20, and domestic experts and scholars were invited to share the carbon reduction opportunities and key technologies for enterprises. The event attracted nearly 200 business professionals and young students to participate, and was completed with enthusiastic participation.
In his speech, the TWSE representative stated that in order to improve the transparency of sustainability information in the capital market, the TWSE launched the “ESG InfoHub” website in 2022, which integrates diversified ESG information of listed companies and presents it in a visual dashboard to enhance the disclosure of listed companies’ sustainability advantages, and serves as a reference for investment decisions and corporate sustainability transformation. In addition, to assist companies in transitioning towards net zero emissions, the TWSE actively collaborates with colleges, universities, and NGO organizations to hold workshops and training courses on climate change and net-zero carbon reduction, in order to enhance the sustainability knowledge of listed companies and inject momentum into Taiwan’s talent pool for sustainable investment.
Vice President Wei-Che Chuang of National Cheng Kung University mentioned in his speech that Taiwan’s annual science and technology policy budget exceeds NT$150 billion, the size of the semiconductor research fund is about NT$20 billion, and the budget for net-zero carbon reduction reaches NT$12 billion, indicating that net-zero carbon emission remain an active and future focus in Taiwan. Faced with the goal of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, in addition to constraints by statute, universities should develop relevant net-zero carbon reduction technologies, such as the microalgae carbon capture technology developed by National Cheng Kung University, which is a good example for the education sector’s investment in carbon reduction. The forum and courses jointly organized by National Cheng Kung University, the TWSE and TCX focus on the key thinking and technological applications of net-zero emission to assist enterprises and universities to understand the relevant knowledge of net-zero carbon emission, and work together towards Taiwan’s goal of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
The video of this forum will be placed in the “TWSE WebPro3.0 Audiovisual Broadcast Network – Corporate Governance Advocacy” section and the “ESG InfoHub Sustainability Course” page to provide more advanced browsing and viewing for enterprises, expand educational resources, and popularize sustainability knowledge.
