Listed Companies that Initiate Share Buybacks with High Buyback Ratio will be considered for Extra Credits in the Corporate Governance Evaluation

Publish time:2025-04-09

The Taiwan Stock Exchange (the TWSE) has previously reminded listed companies to initiate share buyback programs, based on financial conditions and the objective of protecting shareholder value, in order to stabilize market confidence and safeguard shareholder interests.
The TWSE further states that if the board of directors of the listed company resolves to repurchase its own shares for the purpose of transferring them to employees, the TWSE will collect the foregoing companies’ lists. Those with high buyback ratios will be proposed to grant extra credits to them to the Corporate Governance Evaluation and Advisory Committee for discussion and approval.
In addition, to facilitate listed companies in repurchasing its own shares as soon as possible to stabilize stock prices, listed companies may implement a simplified repurchase process for treasury stocks following a recent declaration. Except for the current written declaration, listed companies may have it processed through email or telephone confirmation.
