Publish time:2025-06-10

The Taiwan Stock Exchange Corporation (TWSE) along with the Taipei Exchange will jointly hold the award ceremony for the 11th Corporate Governance Evaluation on June 12, 2025, to recognize listed companies with outstanding performance in the evaluation. The award ceremony will recognize those ranked in the top 5% of the 11th Corporate Governance Evaluation, the top 5% of those with a “market capitalization of NT$5 billion to NT$10 billion,” the top 1% of those with a “market capitalization less than NT$5 billion,” and ones that made the most progress this year, with the aim of encouraging them to continue to deepen corporate governance as well as sustainable development, and jointly enhance the resilience and competitiveness of Taiwan's capital market. The ceremony will invite Financial Supervisory Commission Chairperson Jin-Lung Peng to deliver a speech and serve as the award presenter, in addition to inviting heads of competent authorities along with securities-related units to participate in the event.

The TWSE stated that the (2024) 11th Corporate Governance Evaluation contains 75 indicators in four aspects, which are “Protecting Shareholder Rights and Interests and Treating Shareholders Equitably,” “Enhancing Board Composition and Operation,” “Increasing Information Transparency,” as well as “Promoting Sustainable Development.” The indicators are designed to measure the overall corporate governance performance of a company. The evaluation results were announced on April 30, 2025. Compared with the 10th evaluation, there were 16 TWSE-listed companies and 8 TPEx-listed companies that ranked in the top 5% for the first time, with a replacement rate of 33% and 21%, respectively. This shows that companies attach great importance to the Corporate Governance Evaluation and are competing to improve their corporate governance. In addition, there were 7 TWSE-listed companies and 8 TPEx-listed companies have been ranked in the top 5% for 11 consecutive years, showing that their long-term efforts in corporate governance truly deserve recognition.

The TWSE further explained that the Corporate Governance Evaluation conducts rigorous reviews every year, and carefully considers domestic and international trends, regulations, policies, and feedback for corporate governance as well as sustainable development, in order to continue enhancing the design of indicators. The latest (12th) Corporate Governance Evaluation follows the “Sustainable Development Action Plans for TWSE- and TPEx-Listed Companies (2023)” and the policy to “develop Taiwan into an Asian asset management center” announced by the competent authority, and will gradually add environmental plus social indicators and weights in coordination with the plan to transition into an ESG evaluation, in order to guide companies to implement sustainable development.

The TWSE aims to discover companies that actively engage in corporate governance along with sustainable development through Corporate Governance Evaluations, and to serve as a benchmark by recognizing listed companies with outstanding performance in each category of the evaluation, thereby promoting healthy competition as well as mutual learning among companies, and further strengthening the sustainable development and resilience of Taiwan's capital market.
