Publish time:2026-05-25

The Taiwan Stock Exchange Corporation (TWSE) and the Taipei Exchange (TPEx) will hold the award ceremony for the 12th Corporate Governance Evaluation on May 26, 2026, to recognize companies with outstanding performance in the evaluation. The ceremony will honor companies ranked in the top 5% of the 12th Corporate Governance Evaluation, those in the top 5% of companies with a market capitalization of NT$5 billion to NT$10 billion, as well as those in the top 1% of companies with a market capitalization of less than NT$5 billion. The event aims to encourage companies to continue strengthening corporate governance and sustainable development, thereby enhancing the resilience and competitiveness of Taiwan’s capital market. Financial Supervisory Commission Chairperson Jin-Lung Peng is expected to attend the ceremony to deliver remarks and serve as the award presenter, along with heads of the competent authority and representatives from securities-related organizations.

The TWSE stated that the 12th (2025) Corporate Governance Evaluation comprises 70 indicators across four aspects—“Protecting Shareholder Rights and Interests and Treating Shareholders Equitably,” “Enhancing Board Composition and Operation,” “Increasing Information Transparency,” and “Promoting Sustainable Development”—providing a comprehensive assessment of corporate governance performance. The evaluation results were announced on April 30, 2026. Compared with the 11th Evaluation, 14 TWSE-listed companies and 7 TPEx-listed companies newly ranked in the top 5%, with replacement rates of 28% and 18%, respectively, reflecting strong market emphasis on the Corporate Governance Evaluation and continued enhancement of governance practices. In addition, 7 TWSE-listed companies and 8 TPEx-listed companies have remained in the top 5% for 12 consecutive evaluations, demonstrating long-term commitment and sustained governance performance.

The TWSE further noted that, as environmental and social issues have gained increasing international attention, it has continued in recent years to incorporate domestic and international policy developments and sustainability trends into the Corporate Governance Evaluation in order to better identify listed companies’ sustainability performance across ESG dimensions and provide investors with useful information for ESG investment decisions. The TWSE has gradually expanded environmental and social topics under the evaluation while refining existing indicators. The original four aspects have been restructured into three ESG dimensions—Environmental (E), Social (S), and Governance (G). The evaluation was officially renamed the “ESG Evaluation” in 2026. The indicators for the first (2026) ESG Evaluation were previously released at the end of October 2025, and the evaluation results are expected to be announced by the end of April 2027.

The TWSE aims to continue identifying companies actively engaged in corporate governance and sustainable development through the evaluation system, and to recognize those with outstanding performance across categories, thereby establishing industry benchmarks. This is expected to foster healthy competition and mutual learning among companies, further strengthening the sustainable development and resilience of Taiwan’s capital market.
